Oral Health Tips For Kids

Hi, Welcome to my blog and today’s topic is “Oral Health Tips for Kids”


Few weeks ago I took Lili to her half year dentist visit. I realized that they have changed her dentist. We were the last patient for the day. We went into the treatment room and the dentist started to examine Lili. She said: “You have the best teeth I have seen today!"


I was happy and started chatting to her new dentist. Here are some useful tips I found out from speaking to the dentist:


1: Why you brush your teeth? We brush the plague bacteria away from our teeth;

2. We should brush twice a day and each time is recommended for 2 minutes;

3. How many toothpastes do you need in a household? Actually 1 is enough for everyone as long as the toothpaste has the required 1,350 to 1,500ppm fluoride;

4. You should supervise your child brushing their teeth or even brush it for them for their evening routine;

5. Use a small and soft toothbrush so it helps to reach all parts of the mouth;

6. You don’t wash your mouth after brushing but just spit the toothpaste out. You want to maximize the fluoride production on your teeth;

7. Less sugar, less juice and sweets. Eating an apple is far better than drinking apple juice.

8. Use water to clean your mouth after eating

9. Try to eat the main meal rather than snacking.

If you want your child to effectively brush their teeth with minimal supervision then one of the options is to use Philips electric kids toothbrush. I think as a parent, one of the best oral health help that I can give to Lili is to help her to form a good oral hygiene habit, brushing teeth twice a time, and making sure to visit the dentist at least every 6 month.
